What should I look for when choosing your tattoo removal specialist?
Look for a clinic that specializes in tattoo removal. Some clinics may have recently added a laser to their practice as an afterthought. Make sure the clinic is using a Q-switched laser and preferably a Zimmer cryo 6 cooling system to decrease the discomfort. The Q switched type laser delivers the energy very quickly and offers the best results.
Is there a free consultation?
A consultation is required before any laser treatment, and usually takes 20 minutes. It involves taking a health history, evaluating the tattoo, explaining the procedure, reviewing risks and benefits, options, answering questions, and establishing the price per treatment. Client must be at least 18 years of age and have photo identification.
How are tattoos removed?
Clear Ink uses a Q-switched laser which is effective and safe. Earlier methods involved the use of dermabrasion, salibrasion, surgery and C02 lasers, but these methods left behind scarring or lighter skin in place of the tattoo. Also commonly seen on the internet are tattoo removal creams—which do not work.
How much will it cost?
Pricing ranges from $100 and up per laser treatment. Clear Ink charges $200 for a credit card size tattoo per session. Discounts will be given for active military. Payment by cash, Visa, Mastercard, debit/check cards. No checks, Discover or American Express.
Is the process painful?
The laser emits light in very short flashes called pulses. The impact of the pulse is described as a snap of a rubber band or the splash of bacon grease on the skin. Also, discomfort is reduced by using the Zimmer Cryo 6 cooling system, a natural way to numb the treated area. Clear Ink will take the time to make sure you are as comfortable as possible during treatment, and most sessions only take around 15 seconds.
Will I have a scar?
If post care directions are followed the chance of scarring is less than 10%. The risk of scarring can increase with pregnancy, immune system deficiencies, dark skin tone, taking certain medications, poor circulation, taking Accutane, some health conditions or having a history of keloids or elevated scarring.
How many treatments will it take to remove my tattoo?
The number of treatments depends on the amount of ink used, type of ink, depth of ink placed in skin, location, age, colors, and each person’s individual health considerations. Each person is as unique as their tattoo, but most professional tattoos take a minimum of 5 to 10 treatments while amateur tattoos may take less. Laser sessions are spaced out 6 to 8 weeks apart or longer.
Will all colors fade the same?
Black ink responds the best and is targeted first. At times the black ink will also include greens and purples added to get a richer color. Clear Ink may not know this until the process starts in removing the black ink. Colored tattoos require more treatments than a tattoo that contains only black.
Are there side effects?
Most patients will have some redness and swelling while some may experience minor blistering and pinpoint bleeding. These side effects are temporary and your skin will heal. We also review more specific side effects possible to your skin type at your free consultation.
Will the tattoo completely disappear?
There are hundreds of unregulated tattoo inks in use today. In Addition, everybody’s immune system is different. In many cases we are able to remove a tattoo 100%. In other cases the tattoo may only fade allowing for a new tattoo to be applied. The age of the tattoo is a big factor. Older tattoos are easier to remove than new tattoos. The Ink will break down over the years due to sunlight as well as the body’s natural attempt to remove ink particles. There are a number of factors that will dictate the amount of treatments needed to remove a tattoo. This will be discussed in your consultation. If you’re considering laser tattoo removal in Morgantown, Clear Ink is the clear choice for quality equipment, professionalism and service.
